From Friday March 10th to Sunday March 12th over 10,000 El Pasoans congregated at the El Paso Convention Center to celebrate innovations in home remodeling, attend workshops to learn new gardening and landscaping techniques, to meet celebrity guests and to connect with others in the community. Also at the event was a kids’ zone for children to play while parents explored the different exhibits, and opportunities for pet adoptions. Admission to the El Paso Home and Garden Show costs $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for Seniors, children under the age of 16 and active military enter free to charge, and if a canned food donation is offered, $1 is taken off of adult admission. The El Paso Home and Garden Show has been a local tradition since 1999.
This year at the El Paso Home and Garden Show there were several exciting exhibits. There were master gardeners teaching the tricks of the trade, workshops on outdoor living, including how to build and maintain an outdoor kitchen, and landscaping and hardscaping tips. Solar energy vendors taught about how to make solar energy work for you, and there was every type of remodeling expert available to speak to and get professional advice, from painters and roofers to home security experts.
In addition to all the many education opportunities, Wayde King and Brett Raymer from the enormously popular show Tanked on Animal Planet were there to inspire others with their personal story about how they turned their passion of building fish tanks into a hugely successful family business. King and Raymer shared with the audience a slideshow of their experiences in building creative and unusual fish tanks, including ones that looked like pyramids, telephone booths, and cars. They also fielded questions from the audience in a Q&A.
The El Paso Home and Garden Show is not only a great event for El Paso homeowners, it’s also a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for the entire city. It was presented by the El Paso Association of Builders and is produced by Show Technology Productions.
