24thannual_ne-elpaso-364x212On Sunday Feb. 28th, More than 5,000 people showed up for the 24thAnnual Race for the Cure to help raise money and spread awareness about breast cancer. The Komen Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5k runs/fitness walks in the world with over 1million participants each year since 2005. The Race raises significant funds to help in the fight against breast cancer. 75% of the funds raised in El Paso remain in El Paso to provide cancer education, screening and treatment services for the uninsured.

This year the race will take place in Northeast El Paso. It will begin at Cohen stadium and wind through the streets of Northeast El Paso. There were many people in the race there to “Celebrate” a Survivor or run the race in Honor of someone who lost their battle to breast Cancer. It was great to see all the people who can out for the race and those who came out to support survivors. Each year there are many women and men who are diagnosed. Races such as these bring not only awareness but the necessary funds to help continue the fight.
