Cinco de Mayo Festivals in the Area!

cincodemay-300x166Looking for something to do this weekend for Cinco de Mayo. Many area bars will have their usual celebrations, but if you are looking for something more family friendly, there are two events happening around town that maybe just the ticket.

Take a short drive north toward the Town of Mesilla and you will find their annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta. The celebration begins Saturday from noon to 10-pm, then Sunday noon to 7pm, May 3-4. The event includes live entertainment, and more than 20 vendors of arts and crafts, games and food booths. Children’s activities include amusement rides, jumping balloon, and piñata bas. Visitors are advised to bring folding chairs. No alcohol, smoking or pets allowed in the plaza.

If you are not up to drive, then take a trip to Wet-n-Wild water park in Anthony. El Paso radio station 104.3 HitFM boasts the largest Cinco de May Festival in the area on Sunday May 4th. There will be two different party areas with DJ’s mixing your favorite hits at the Wild Island Wave Pool. Along with the main stage hosting live rock and Spanish bands including Radio la Chusma, Cabalgata, Trip Wire, Sonora Escandalo, Brown Betty, Conjunto Majestad, Cantina Flys, Salvador Hernandez and Brother Strange.

So if you are looking for a great outing this weekend, then check out these local festivals. With the weather less windy, the weekend looks to be a great time to spend outdoors with family and friends.
