As season 2 of the El Paso Chihuahuas comes to an end, there is news that the major league affiliate San Diego Padres, will come to play in our home turf. It was officially announced today that an exhibition game will take place on March 31, 2016 at Southwest University Park- four days before the Padres open up their 2016 season.
This will be the first time a major league team has visited the Sun City since 2003 when the Arizona Diamondbacks played an exhibition game at Cohen Stadium.
Since the return of professional baseball to El Paso, the excitement continues for fans young and old. With the Padres coming to El Paso, many baseball fans will line up for tickets hoping to get a change to see a Major League team play in our first rate Triple A ballpark.
If you have yet to catch a game, there are few games left in the season. So go enjoy a hotdog and a cold drink and maybe catch a souvenir as the hot summer days come to a close.
